Introduction

It’s August already! Can you believe how fast summer has gone? August is a busy month so check out our August calendar of events on the parent boards which are located in each classroom as well as in the foyer.

The zoo trip was a success, thank you to all those who chaperoned. We hope to see you next year!

Fundraiser

Thanks to all those who participated in the fundraiser. Each class was able to purchase new supplies, games, and furniture for their classrooms. We really appreciate all of your help.

Moving On!

Stepping Stone would like to say goodbye to all the children who will be leaving us at the end of the month to go to Kindergarten. Some have been with Stepping Stone since they were infants and some only a few months; either way we are going to miss all of them. We want to wish them all good luck in Kindergarten and hope they will come back to visit. We will be having a Pre-K graduation ceremony on August 28^th for those children who will be leaving to go to Kindergarten.

Themes of the Month

The themes this month are National Literacy & Circus. Our letters this month are X, Y, & Z. The colors are rainbow colors, shape is a star and the numbers are 1-6. To reinforce our letters of the month, we would like your child to bring in something from home that begins with the letter Y on Thursday, August 14^th and on the 26^th they will be naming 3 things that begin with the letter Z. To promote National Literacy Month we would like your child to bring in one of their favorite books each Monday during the month of August. The children really enjoy showing off the things they bring from home. On Tuesday the 19^th we will be having a Bows the clown come to the center to perform.

Splish, Splash, it’s Water Day

Our first water day was Wednesday, June 21^st and they take place every Wednesday this summer.  Each class has a scheduled time to go outside and enjoy the water activities. Our last water day will be Wednesday August 29^th. We will have water tables, sprinklers, and plenty of fun activities planned. On water day, we ask that you send a bathing suit, water shoes, and a towel for your child. You may bring water toys from home; however we ask that you don’t bring water guns.

For safety reasons, please do not allow your child to wear open toe or open heel shoes to Stepping Stone. If these types of shoes are worn your child will not be allowed to play on the playground.

For those children 18 months and up, please apply sunscreen to your child before they come to Stepping Stone. If you bring in sunscreen to keep in their cubby, we will reapply it as necessary.

If your child is in the infant room, please place sunscreen in your child’s diaper bag so that we may apply it when needed.
